How Long Does It Take FINRA To Approve U4?
A FINRA U4 form is the Uniform Application for Broker-Dealer Registration and is used to register new individuals, as well as adjust licensed individuals into a new position.
The information required on a U4 form typically begins with a person's name, date of birth, Social Security Number, and address history. In addition to providing this information, applicants need to get their fingerprints taken. Fingerprints are used by FINRA to conduct a background check on the individual applying. After the form has been completed it is sent electronically to the Central Registration Depository(CRD).
FINRA will complete the review of the U4 filing within 15 days from when it is received. However, the process may take longer if the information on the form is inaccurate. The U4 form information is entered into the Brokercheck Public Database, which contains a library of over 630,000 representatives.
