How Do I Get Fingerprinted In Florida?
Fingerprinting is a necessary process for many licenses and certifications issued in the state of Florida. Fingerprinting in the state is unique as Florida residents must submit their fingerprints to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for approval. The FDLE, in addition to the Division of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), is the central repository for criminal history information in Florida.
There are two methods for taking and submitting fingerprints to the FDLE.
The first method is known as LiveScan fingerprinting, which is an electronic capture of your fingerprints. Alternatively, you can have your fingerprints taken on a fingerprint card to be submitted via mail. The LiveScan method of submitting fingerprints is faster than submitting fingerprint cards via traditional mail.
